Money Mishaps: Setting It and Forgetting It
Hello Money Masters!
How are you? I trust your week is off to a great start! I’m just going to get right down to this week’s Money Mishap topic. I want to talk about the things we sign up for and either put on “auto renew” or completely forget about.
We live in a busy world in which we are bombarded with NEW and EXCITING products and services to try. You know what I’m talking about:
-
Premium channel free preview trials
-
30-day music app upgrades
-
Magazine subscriptions
The list goes on! Companies benefit from the chance that consumers will forget to cancel a trial or temporary subscription or auto renewal. When this happens, you could be charged without your knowledge.
What to do: There are several ways you can keep track of these trials, freebies, and spontaneous additions. Make sure you read your financial statements thoroughly! If signing up for a trial period, read the fine print and NOTE THE EXPIRATION or RENEWAL DATE in your calendar right away and set a reminder before that date to cancel if that is your decision.
Remember, there are safe automatic payments to have, such as automating your savings. However, you will need to be cautious and responsible when another one of those new and exciting opportunities arises! Stay tuned for next week’s Money Mishap…
Blessings to you all,
-Helen
