Yes, You Can Save on Prescription Drugs!
Hi Money Masters!
I hope you are having a wonderful start to 2018! Some current items on your financial “to-do” list should be getting your taxes prepared, creating or reviewing and adjusting your budget or financial plan for the year, and looking to see in which areas of day-to-day life you can save some moola!
I have previously suggested cutting down on your cable service, cellular bill, daily trips to the coffee shop and eating out. Now, I’d like to talk about how you can save on health care- more specifically, on prescription drug costs.
It is predicted that prescription drug costs in 2018 will increase even faster than in 2017! On average, Americans spend roughly $1000 per year, per person on pharmaceuticals. Crazy! But there are ways to cut these costs. According to MoneyTalksNews.com, there are even some grocery store chains that have free prescription programs, Meijer being one of them. Worth checking out!
You might need to get a little creative and do some research. I know my Money Masters can handle a challenge! For instance:
-
Shop around and compare prices– you might have a favorite neighborhood pharmacy but it just might benefit your wallet to try a new place!
-
Go Generic– generic pharmaceuticals are subject to the same regulations and standards of quality than name brand.
-
Save receipts– ask your tax professional as you might be eligible for a deduction for these expenses.
Saving money in any area of your life requires at least a little leg work. But don’t you agree that ANY savings is worth it? I certainly do! If you’d like to read about more ways to save on prescriptions check out this article from MoneyTalksNews.com.
Blessings to you, all!
–Helen
