Fabulous, Yet Thrifty Gifts!
Hi Money Masters!
I cannot believe that Christmas is 3 weeks away! Some of you probably have everything ready to go; the tree is decorated, the cards are sent, and the gifts are wrapped. WAY TO GO! Some of you have more to do and THAT’S OK, TOO! Face it, we are busy, but I do NOT want any of you stressing out- especially when it comes to…SPENDING.
Have no fear. I am here to keep you on track. I want to talk about gift giving. If you choose to give gifts at the holidays please keep in mind that you DO NOT have to spend a lot of money. You don’t even have to BUY gifts. That’s right. You can MAKE them!
Here are a few ideas for the loved ones on your list!
For Tweens, Teens, and Young Adults: Duct Tape Cell Phone Case
A big trend lately among kids is jewelry and craft kits. But, store prices can be high. I suggest picking up a roll or two of cool colored or designed duct tape from a craft store (use a coupon!) and follow the instructions here. The supplies will most likely cost less than $10!
For an Adult Friend or Family Member: A Festive Table Centerpiece
This one can get really fun! You can get as creative as you want. You probably have the materials you need already at your disposal. Find a decorative platter or bowl (if you don’t have an extra, the dollar store has all kinds). Then, fill it with an arrangement of pretty ornaments and sprigs of evergreen or a thick candle surrounded by pine cones. Use your imagination and GO FOR IT!
A Neighbor or Mail Carrier: A Plate of Cookies
There’s nothing prettier than a platter full of cookies with various colors, sprinkles, and shiny sugar crystals! Wrap them up with a pretty ribbon and you’ve got the perfect gift.
The holidays are about peace and kindness, not how much money you spent or how trendy a gift is. A gift given from the heart and your own two hands is a wonderful thing, whether it’s a homemade craft or chocolate chip cookies. Just make sure you leave some for Santa 😉
