Helen’s Got Something New!
Can you believe that it is May already? Pat yourself on the back. You have completed one month of saving. Now that wasn’t so bad was it? Just think how much further ahead you are. I enjoy hearing your success stories. For those who are sharing your story on Facebook, you may never know how much of a blessing you are to others. Thank you for your courage. It may seem strange but money is not easy for many people to talk about. My prayer is that as participants begin to experience success in specific areas of challenge that they will feel more comfortable sharing their stories, milestones, successes, and challenges.
This week I want to talk about GIVING. It may seem counter-intuitive to discuss giving while you are trying to save. The interesting thing about giving is that it is a principle they many find difficult. The bible does a better job than me in Luke 6:38. If you look closely; you will see that you have to give first before receiving. I’ve heard many people say if and when my ship comes in I am going to buy my parents this or that. Or when I make my million, I am going to give my church a huge offering. Well, giving works just the opposite. You are more likely to get your millions by giving first. You see it is in your generosity that you get more to give.
“Beware of those who are stingy, for they would rather sting you than give you anything.” ~ Suzy Kassem
I found an article on the “KnowThyself” site. It has some very interesting observations about stinginess. The article stated that some insecure people believe that they don’t have enough resources that can help them reach their goals and as a result become selfish. Selfishness and stinginess are strongly connected to each other. In the case of stinginess, the person feels too insecure to give some of their money to others because they believe they don’t t have enough money.
However, even when a stingy person get more money studies show that they don’t give any more because the insecurity stingy people feel is usually in their minds and in most cases have nothing to do with the amount of money they have. In other words, a person can have a very large sum of money yet still feel financially insecure because of believing that they don’t have enough money.
This week as we save, let’s think about someone else and implement the principle of giving. This week I would like you to give to someone. If they ask anything, just simply request that they pay it forward.
Let’s make this fun. You could really change someone’s life. Share your experience with us on Facebook so we can all be blessed by hearing your story. Have a wonderful week!
Grow and Prosper,
Helen
