Happy Spring! I sincerely hope you had a blessed and fun-filled Easter! It’s about time we had some warmer temps and sunshine beaming down on us. Spring is also the perfect time for financial savings. There are many ways to save money that don’t require looking very far to find.

Your Own House

A lot of people like to use the beginning of the Spring season to clean and organize the house. Why not use this as an opportunity to make some extra money to toss into the piggy bank? For example, cleaning out your closet can become quite lucrative if you are willing to part with clothes you no longer wear or accessories that have been hiding in the back. Be honest with yourself, you didn’t even remember you had that blue scarf, did you? Places to sell used items like clothing, accessories and tech gadgets include:

-Consignment shops

-ebay

-Apps (letgo, ThreadUp, Craigslist)

Making a few updates to your home now can actually save you money for the next couple seasons. Make sure to replace air filters, fix any drafts from doors or windows, clean the refrigerator coils (to conserve energy) and even check to make sure your electricity company is giving you the best rates. Feel free to research the options for your area.

Your Neighborhood

Looking to make some quick cash to stash? Ask your neighbors if they have any tasks you could do for a fee. Walking dogs, mowing lawns, cleaning, or even running errands for someone else will not only help a fellow neighbor but keep you busy and keep the cash flowing!

Local Retailers

If you want to save while spending (who doesn’t?), look to your local stores. Every season has its specific items that stores sell at reduced prices. This is especially true for clothes, shoes and seasonal foods.

Don’t forget that Spring also brings sales for Easter (post-Easter clearance is going on now), Mother’s Day and Memorial Day.

You don’t have to look very far to save a few bucks this Spring. Start with your own home and community. Use the resources at your disposal so you can bask in the delight of accomplishing some financial victories as well as the warm Spring sun!
